1790 Analytics carried out a study examining the prior art listed on U.S. patents assigned to the 50 top-patenting companies. This study showed that patents assigned to these companies cite IEEE nearly three times more than any other technical-literature publisher.
When broken down by technical discipline, IEEE is the most-referenced publisher in: artificial intelligence; blockchain technology; computer hardware; software; cybersecurity; the IoT; power systems; semiconductors; renewable energy; and telecommunications.
